1. First take time for the first part of the Portrait, the Pencil sketch part. It is important. Find fun doing it very good and checking out dimensions very carefully and often.
2. Start with the Background color.
3. Use the middle tones for the skin to start coloring the face. (Rembrandt did use very much of ocher)
4. Shadowing and Highlighting
5. More and more details
6. Eyes, Beard, Hairs
7. The last Details
